The village of Kám is located in Vas County, in the western region of Hungary. The Jeli Botanical Garden just off of the village draws many visitors during the season when the rodendoron is in bloom.
The 74-hectar park is Hungarys largest botanic garden, established by count Istvan Ambrozy-Migazzi in 1922. In choosing the right location, he took into account the soil texture as well as the co-existence of the Sub-alpine and the Mediterranean climate, which are highly favored by evergreens. After the count passed away during the Second World War, the park was neglected for a time. The 1960s marked the beginning of the parks revival. A legion of woodmen and botanists planted new trees in thematic arrangement, displaying representative vegetation of China, Japan, America, and part of Asia. The botanical garden can be visited from the beginning of April until the end of September, every day in May and June, on weekends otherwise. Facilities across the entrance include a buffet, sport fields and a playground. ![]() ![]() Jeli Botanical Garden Kam - nearest hotels
