Kecskemet is one of the most notable agricultural towns in the Hungarian Plain, rich in cultural heritage as well. The Cathedral in Kecskemet, which is also called the Old Church, is the largest church building in the region.
The church was built between 1774 and 1799, in late Baroque style. Due to a fire, the tower had to be rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century. The clock in the 73-metres high tower is one of the oldest operating clocks in Hungary. The façade includes statues of evangelists, and pretty windows. The interior is decorated by beautiful ceiling frescos. The church bells indicate the passing of time at every half-an-hour. Kecskemet Cathedral - nearest hotels
